The Story of US Bones
The US Bones management and staff are committed to supporting their animal welfare organization partners through the Rewards Fundraising program. This program originated when US Bones realized just how many groups were interested in using their gift baskets for their fundraising events. As parents and pet owners, they realized they needed to be using their own homegrown products to support the fundraising efforts of schools and animal shelters. And so they did.

US Bones donates 25% of website sales to animal charities and schools. As a customer of USBones.com, you choose the animal group or school you want your proceeds to support. Furthermore, if your local animal shelter or school isn't listed, just let the folks at US Bones know, and they'll add it!

What's the Difference?
The biggest difference between US Bones rawhide chews and most other chews (especially imports) is that US Bones rawhide treats are 100% U.S. made; from the origin of the raw materials to the manufacturing labor (their plant is in Chicago).

Shaping rawhide into different chews requires that every treat be hand twisted. Thus, it's very labor intensive. For rawhide manufacturers, as with other industries, it's cheaper to outsource labor overseas than to pay American workers for a full day's pay.

Unfortunately, it's more than jobs that are lost--quality is sacrificed as well. Some of the questionable practices that impact quality include:

• Using harsh chemicals to create a bright, unnatural whiteness
• Stuffing chews with smaller pieces of rawhide to create the illusion of volume and heft
• "Splitting" the hides and thereby reducing the thickness of the chews

US Bones Success Stories
With a mission that includes the promotion of animal welfare, the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine partnership was a natural. US Bones supports the Vet Med Indigent Pet Fund, as well as providing direct financial support as a corporate event sponsor of the college.

Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus was one of the first partner groups for US Bones, and remains one of their best supporters. Says Doberman Rescue board member, Amy Wukotich, "The relationship has been great. We really do nothing more than buy the high quality U.S. made treats that we would be buying for our dogs anyway, it's just that now our group gets money back for it!"

Dizzy Bone Is A Fantastic Treat!
